Acer just announced that its ConceptD workstations are getting an update for both desktops and laptops.
Made for creators and other professionals, the workstations will now take advantage of Intel Alder Lake processors and the latest Nvidia graphics cards.
Acer’s announcement includes a total of three products, all of which are continuations of existing product lines and have just received a very welcome update: the ConceptD 5 laptop, the ConceptD 5 500 desktop and the compact ConceptD 100 desktop. While we’ll be seeing these hit the market later this year, Acer has already released the full specs, giving us some insight into these beautiful desktops.
When we say it nice, we mean it: the ConceptD desktop workstations have a very stylish, minimalist look that sets it apart from comparable products. Let’s start with the ConceptD 500.
Combining a matte white chassis with orange lighting, it looks inspiring on its own, and it’s made for people who rely on inspiration every day – graphic designers, architects, 3D animators, video editors and other professionals in need of a powerful workplace.
The beautiful mid-sized chassis houses some of the best components the market can offer today. Acer’s update brings this desktop to a 12th generation Intel Core i9 processor and your choice of an Nvidia RTX A4000 or a GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card. The computer can support up to 128 GB of DDR4 RAM and has plenty of storage space to offer, with a maximum of 4 TB.
The impressive ConceptD 500 is followed by the small form factor ConceptD 100. While it is certainly on the compact side, it should still be able to deliver plenty of power. Similar to the 500 in design yet unique, it offers a slightly poorer set of specs, but still makes for an impressive workstation for those who don’t quite need the extra look of the ConceptD 500.
In the ConceptD 100, users can expect a 12th generation Core i5 or Core i7 processor, as well as Nvidia’s T400 or T1000 graphics card. These desktops also support up to 128 GB of DDR4 memory, but scale the storage options a lot lower: instead of a 4 TB SSD, users can choose a 2 TB HDD and a 2 TB SSD.
The latest release comes in the form of the redesigned ConceptD 5 laptop workstation, also available in a Pro version. For those who may need to do their work on the go, they will definitely be a solid option for heavy duty tasks like CAD modeling and various content creation.
The new laptops come with a Core i7-12700H processor up to and including Nvidia’s laptop graphics cards, up to 32GB of LPDDR5 SDRAM, and up to 2TB of SSD storage. The display on this will be quite impressive too, with a 3840 x 2400 resolution WQUXGA OLED panel that promises to deliver bright, vibrant colors to aid you in your day-to-day work. There is almost no doubt that they will make it onto our list of the best mobile workstations in the future.
The ConceptD 5 laptop will be available in August for $2,499 and up, followed by the Pro in September, starting at $2,599. As for desktops, the ConceptD 100 workstation will be available in EMEA first, starting at EUR 999 in September, while the ConceptD 500 will cost EUR 1,199 from the start.
